WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT

THEFT / BURGLARY

Aug. 14: Jason Wilde, 26, of Wasilla reported to police that unknown person(s) had stolen a Polaris six-wheeler from a residence off of Graybark Circle. The investigation continues.

Aug. 15: Debra Fischer, 36, of Wasilla reported that sometime during the early morning hours of Aug. 15 someone had broken into a building owned by her family on Swanson Avenue in Wasilla. Fischer reported damage to one of the doors and miscellaneous items taken from the shop. An investigation continues and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the police department at 352-5401 or Mat-Su Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.

Aug. 16: Zachary Dolechek, 18, of Wasilla and a 17-year-old white male were observed attempting to steal a street sign on Stormy Circle. They were contacted and found to be in possession of a stolen street sign from Snowflake Circle and five traffic cones belonging to Wilder Construction. Dolechek was issued a summons to appear in court for Theft III and a charge of Theft III will be referred to Juvenile Justice against the other male.

Aug. 16: Veronica Camacho, 33, of Wasilla reported that sometime during the night unknown person(s) entered her vehicle, which was parked outside her residence on Wilder Avenue, and stole various items. The investigation continues.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

Aug. 15: Bruce Hess, 44, of Wasilla reported catching Lynn Smith, 43, of Wasilla allegedly trespassing inside a vehicle at Mr. Lube. Hess said he was sleeping in a vehicle parked outside Mr. Lube when Smith entered the vehicle looking for a cigarette lighter. A charge of Criminal Trespass II will be forwarded to the district attorney's office against Smith.

LOST AND FOUND

Aug. 15: Ryan Brandt, 29, of Wasilla came to the police department to report that he had found a wallet belonging to a Big Lake resident.

Aug. 15: An anonymous male found a wallet with credit cards and identification at the Fred Meyer Tesoro gas station belonging to an Anchorage man. Police looked inside the wallet for a telephone number and were unable to locate any contact information for the man. The wallet was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

MVC / MVA

Aug. 15: Police responded to the intersection of the Parks Highway and Knik Street for a two-vehicle collision. Investigation revealed that Jeffery Adams, 37, of Brigham City, Utah, had struck the vehicle he was following after it had stopped for backed up traffic. The driver of the lead vehicle, Leonard Waibel, 33, of Wasilla, was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. Adams was cited for following too closely.

Aug. 15: Police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a Mat-Su Borough fire truck driven by Jacob Boothby, 24, of Wasilla and a 1993 green Subaru driven by Susan Jackman, 58, of Wasilla at the intersection of Herning Avenue and Main Street. The fire truck was responding code red to one of two other accidents that had just occurred in the vicinity of the Parks Highway and Main Street when the accident occurred. Investigation revealed that due to heavy traffic, the fire truck was unable to successfully negotiate its way through the traffic and scraped against the Subaru as the truck turned right from Herning Avenue onto Main Street.

Aug. 16: Police responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle collision at the intersection of the Parks and Palmer-Wasilla highways. At the scene, police made contact with both drivers. Steven Impson stated he was traveling westbound on the Parks Highway and had stopped for a red light at the Palmer-Wasilla Highway. Impson said he had been stopped for awhile when he was struck from behind by a 2007 Chevy operated by Colette Grower. Grower stated she was stopped behind Impson and she thought Impson backed into her. Grower then stated that maybe her foot slipped off the brake. Impson stated he had been stopped in traffic and had no reason to have put his vehicle in reverse. There is minor to no damage to rear of Impson's vehicle and minor damage to Grower's front hood and bumper.

DUI

Aug. 16: A traffic stop was conducted on a pick-up failing to stop at a stop sign. Subsequent investigation found probable cause to believe that Thomas Desalvo II was driving under the influence and he was arrested. Magistrate Comfort set his conditions of release to be when sober.

RUNAWAYS / MISSING PERSONS

Aug. 16: Angela Walker reported her 16-year-old son as a runaway. Walker stated her son has been missing since Aug. 13 when he left to go to the skate park and never returned. Walker further stated she had seen him earlier in the day on Aug. 16 at the skate park, but he refused to go home with her. Walker described her son as 5-feet 10-inches tall wearing a white shirt with black sweats and black shoes. Walker said her son has black curly hair.

DWLCSR

Aug. 16: Robert Edwards, 35, of Wasilla was stopped for operating a green 1993 Chevy Suburban on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway with a defective right taillight. Edwards' driver's license is revoked. He was issued a summons to appear in court for driving while his license is revoked.

ALASKA STATE TROOPERS

ASSAULT

Aug. 15, 2:22 a.m.: Troopers responded to a domestic disturbance on Dandy Circle in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Dale Payne, 43, of Wasilla had allegedly assaulted his girlfriend. Payne was arrested and booked at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held without bail on the charge of Assault IV.

MVC / MVA

Aug. 15, 5:50 a.m.: Troopers responded to a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Outer Springer Loop and Grover Avenue. An investigation revealed Charles F. Campbell, 47, of North Carolina was traveling eastbound on Outer Springer Loop in a 2007 Ford Fusion when he came to the &#8220T” intersection of Grover Avenue and drove off the end of the road, hitting a tree. Campbell was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Seat belt was worn by the sole occupant. Alcohol is suspected as being a factor in the collision. Investigation is continuing. The vehicle is estimated at a total loss.

Aug. 15, 3:19 p.m.: Troopers responded to the intersection of Parks Highway and Pittman Road for a two-vehicle collision. Investigation revealed a 1993 Honda coupe, driven by Gabriel File, 26, of Wasilla was westbound on the Parks Highway when it unintentionally ran the red light and struck a 2000 Ford SUV, driven by Celeste Fisk, 56, of Wasilla that was northbound on Pittman Road. All occupants reported wearing safety belts and no injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $6,000. File was issued a citation for failure to stop for steady red traffic signal.

HIT AND RUN

Aug. 15, 4:15 p.m.: Troopers responded to a hit and run involving a vehicle striking a juvenile on his bicycle in the vicinity of Edlund Road and Spawning Loop in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that at about 3:30 p.m., an unidentified white male juvenile driving a green sedan on Spawning Loop towards Edlund Road struck a 15-year-old male riding his bicycle at the intersection of Edlund Road and Spawning Loop. The 15-year-old victim described the driver as a 15- to 16-year-old white male wearing a white hooded sweat shirt. The driver of the green sedan sped off scene without identifying himself. The 15-year-old victim suffered a bump to his head and scrapes to the side of his body. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the troopers at 373-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 907-745-3333.

THEFT / BURGLARY

Aug. 15, 7 p.m.: Jeffrey Homola, 38, of Palmer reported to troopers that his Yamaha motorcycle had been stolen from his garage off of Yale Court in Palmer. The motorcycle was valued at $2,000. At this time the case is under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to please contact Alaska State Troopers at 745-2131, or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.

DUI

Aug. 15, 11:27 p.m.: Troopers responded to a report of a disturbance on Hyer Road in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Andrew Hanson, 22, of Palmer was allegedly driving his 1995 Dodge 4-door, bearing plate FAW930, with a revoked Alaska operator's license and under the influence of alcohol. Hanson was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded. Bail was set at $500 cash only.

Aug. 16, 11:45 p.m.: Trooper DUI Enforcement Team contacted Eric Wittner, 43, of Wasilla on Weber Drive after the vehicle he was operating was stopped for allegedly driving erratically. Wittner was found to be operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Wittner was arrested for driving under the influence and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held until sober.

Aug. 17, 2:40 a.m.: Trooper DUI Enforcement Team contacted Jason Hannah, 23, of Wasilla who was found sleeping in his vehicle with the engine running and still seatbelted in the driver's seat near Mile 36 of the Parks Highway. Hannah was found to be allegedly operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for driving under the influence. Hannah was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held until sober.

MCA

Aug. 16, 12:50 a.m.: Troopers issued Bobby McInelly, 18, of Wasilla a summons for minor consuming alcohol. McInnely was contacted by troopers during a report of a loud party on Lucille Street in Wasilla.

WARRANT ARREST

Aug. 17, 7:40 a.m.: Aaron Smith, 23, of Wasilla was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear on a driving under the influence charge. Smith was contacted at his mother's Wasilla residence and taken into custody. Smith was booked into Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and held on $2,000 bail.

ALASKA WILDLIFE TROOPERS

SPORTFISHING WITHOUT A VALID LICENSE

Aug. 12: Terry Vanzanten, 55, of Talkeetna was contacted by wildlife troopers for sport fishing at Montana Creek. Vanzanten allegedly did not have a 2007 sport fish license. Vanzanten was cited. Bail is set at $210.

PROVIDING A FALSE STATEMENT

Aug. 13: Wildlife troopers cited William A. Walker, 21, of Wasilla for providing a false statement on a 2005 sportfishing/hunting license. Walker was issued a fine of $310.
