WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT

DWLCSR

July 31: Police issued Terenty G. Reutov, 23, of Wasilla a summons to appear in court for allegedly driving while his license was suspended after he was stopped for failing to use his turn signal.

Aug. 1: Leslie Arthurs, 34, of Palmer was contacted by police for an alleged moving violation. An investigation revealed Arthurs' driver's license was suspended out of Oklahoma. Arthurs was issued a summons to appear in court for driving while license suspended and released to a valid driver.

Aug. 2: Lisa Thomas was stopped while operating a green 1994 Eagle Vision which was the subject of a REDDI report. Thomas was not under the influence of alcohol; however, she was driving while her license was revoked and she was issued a summons for that offense.

DWI

Aug. 2: Police received a REDDI report on a purple Honda. Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway at Fred Meyer. Investigation revealed Kimberley Kornfeind, 61, of Wasilla was allegedly driving while intoxicated. Kornfeind was placed under arrest and transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where it was ordered that she was not to be released until arraignment.

WARRANT ARREST

July 31: Police received a call from a court service officer stating he was at the residence of Laura Vazquez, 32, of Wasilla and she allegedly had a $2,000 warrant for failure to appear in court. Vazquez was placed under arrest by Wasilla police and transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility.

Aug. 2: Police observed a 1995 turquoise Pontiac heading westbound on Winter Street near Lucas Road with a severely cracked and obstructed windshield. Police further recognized the female driver as Kathy Lee Jacobson and had personal knowledge that Jacobson was wanted on a warrant out of California for parole violation. Police initiated a traffic stop and verified Jacobson's identity. Mat-Com Dispatch verified the warrant and extradition. Jacobson was placed under arrest as a fugitive from justice and transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility.

THEFT / SHOPLIFTING / BURGLARY

Aug. 1: Police were contacted regarding a theft that had occurred at the Tesoro store at the intersection of the Parks Highway and Main Street. The complainant, Christine Rouse, 48, of Wasilla stated that at around 1 a.m. a single male had entered the store and allegedly took two bottles of vodka without paying for the merchandise. An investigation continues.

Aug. 1: Prisilla Peters, 25, of Anchorage contacted police to report that unknown person(s) allegedly stole the license plate off her vehicle while it was located at a residence off of Snowhill Avenue. The license plate displayed FEL899 with May 2009 tabs. An investigation continues.

Aug. 1: Brian Bradford, 54, of Wasilla called Police to report his cell phone had allegedly been stolen sometime in June. Bradford reported when he received his bill he had $500 in charges he didn't make. Bradford stated the reason why it took him so long to notice his phone was stolen is because he doesn't ever use the phone and only has it for emergencies.

Aug. 2: Police received a call from a Wal-Mart manager that a white male adult allegedly walked out of the store with a television and VCR valued at $400. The individual then got into a vehicle and left. He was unable to get a license plate number.

Aug. 2: Joan Elliott, 65, of Brownsville, Texas, called and alleged someone had stolen her purse at Lake Lucille Inn. Anyone with information regarding this theft is encouraged to contact the police department at 352-5401 or Mat-Su Crime Stoppers at 745-3333. The investigation is pending.
