PALMER POLICE DEPARTMENT

DUI

July 3: Police arrested Ronald Jeralds, 21, of Palmer on suspicion of driving under the influence, reckless driving and eluding. Jeralds was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where bail was set at $1,500 and a court approved third party.

July 5: Dennis Jimmie Shavings, 45 of Palmer was contacted for allegedly spinning his tires and suspicion of damage to an unoccupied car. Investigation revealed his driver's license status is revoked due to the original charge of driving under the influence. During the contact he was alleged to be driving under the influence. He was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held in lieu of $3,000 bail and requirement of a court approved third party custodian on the charges of driving under the influence, driving while license revoked and leaving the scene of an accident. Shavings was also cited for improper start from a parked position and proof of insurance requirements.

July 7: Jessy P. Jenny, 26, of Palmer was contacted in the McDonald's parking lot after the police received two reports of a very drunk driver about the vehicle he was driving. Jenny was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded into custody with bail set at $1,000, cash only performance bond, with a court approved third party custodian.

DWI

July 2: While on patrol for the DUI enforcement grant, police contacted Lawrence W. Wood, 32, of Palmer for failure to illuminate lights. Wood was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence, refusal to submit to a chemical breath test and driving while license revoked. Wood was lodged at Mat-Su Pre-Trial on $2,500 bail.

DWLS

July 3: Travis Allen Dane Barber, 18, of Palmer was contacted for allegedly driving erratically. Investigation revealed his driver's license status is suspended. He was remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial where he was held in lieu of $1,000 bail and requirement of a court approved third party custodian on the charges of driving while license suspended and reckless driving. Barber was also cited for proof of insurance requirements. The vehicle was released to a friend as his passenger's driver's license was expired.

July 6: Lesha A. Lindley, 28, of Palmer was issued a summons for driving while license suspended after she was pulled over for a traffic violation.

DWLR

July 5: Police Department arrested Vicki D. Espinoza, 41, of Wasilla for alledegly driving while license revoked after pulling her over on suspicion of an equipment violation. She was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where bail was set at $1,500.

July 6: Police stopped Tanner Stoll, 25, of Wasilla on suspicion of an equipment violation. Stoll was arrested for allegedly driving while license revoked and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where Judge Heath set bail at $1,000 cash/corporate.

THEFT / BURGLURY

July 2: Jeremy Doty, 35, of Palmer reported four bicycles valued at $400 had allegedly been stolen from his yard at his residence in Palmer.

July 3: Angela D. Berberich, 44, of Palmer reported that during the night someone allegedly broke into her son's vehicle and stole a Bual 7-inch LCD DVD/CD/AM/FM entertainment center, a MTX 251 250-watt amplifier, a Punch P2 10-inch sub-woofer and approximately 100 CDs. It was reported the suspects were driving a small blue car. The investigation is ongoing.

July 3: Police were contacted concerning stereo equipment allegedly stolen from a vehicle parked in front of a Palmer residence. Investigation continues. Anyone having information of the theft should notify the police.

July 6: Three juveniles from Palmer alleged $210 was taken from their lockers at the Palmer Pool.

July 6: A 17-year-old male alleged his green Next Chaos BMX style bike was stolen from McDonald's in Palmer. The value of the bike is $75. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 745-4811.

July 7: Police responded to the CARRS/Safeway store in Palmer to a report of a male allegedly attempting to shoplift medications. Police contacted Blair N. Lincoln, 26, of Anchorage. Investigation revealed Lincoln had shoplifted Dramamine from the store. Lincoln was arrested on suspicion of theft IV and remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial and held in lieu of $1,000 bail and a court approved third party.

LOST AND FOUND

July 2: Jolene Arendse, 44, of Chickaloon reported she found property belonging to Darla Root, 46, of Wasilla while she was walking in Palmer. The items are being stored at the Police Department until Root can claim them.

WARRENT ARREST

July 2: Police arrested Robert Clark, 43, of Wasilla on an outstanding warrant for allegedly failing to appear for arraignment on the original charges of driving under the influence and driving while license suspended/revoked. Clark was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where he was held on $1,500 cash bail.

MICS

July 4: Following a traffic stop for improperly displayed registration tags, Police arrested James M. Lovett, 42, of Palmer on suspicion of misconduct involving a controlled substance, IV & V. Lovett was lodged at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $3,000 bail.

VANDALISM

July 5: Jay A. Bush, 48, of Tumwater, Washington reported the side windows of a 1997 Chevrolet pickup were broken out during the night while it was parked in the purple parking lot of the Alaska State Fairgrounds.

MVC

July 5: Carol M. Sizemore, 71, of Palmer and Gail M. Heikes, 52, of Palmer were driving south on Cobb approaching Evergreen. Heikes started to change lanes, into the turn lane, and allegedly collided with Sizemore's vehicle. Heikes was issued a citation for improper lane change. There were no injuries and both vehicles were driven from the accident location.

EXPIRED REGISTRATION /

NO INSURANCE

July 6: Police responded to the area of east Beaver Avenue and north Eklutna Street for the report of a truck driving recklessly through the area. The driver was identified as Jacob S. Godwin, 22, of Palmer, who was issued citations on suspicion of operating a vehicle with expired registration and no vehicle insurance. Alleged charges of reckless driving for Godwin are to be forwarded to the district attorney's office.

MISUSE OF PLATES AND REGISTRATION

July 6: Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the Palmer Post Office. The driver, Phillip W. Duke II, 20, of Palmer, was allegedly operating a vehicle bearing the wrong license plates. Investigation revealed Duke had knowledge the plates were not for the vehicle he was operating. Duke was arrested for misuse of plates and registration and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility in lieu of $500 bail.

ASSAULT

July 6: Officers were dispatched to Felzine's trailer court for a report of an assault. A 66-year-old Palmer man alleges he was assaulted by Donald Caulkins, 19, of Wasilla. The incident is under investigation.

VIOLATING CONDITIONS

OF RELEASE

July 7: Following a report from Alaska Monitoring Services that a male on conditions of release was not supposed to be driving had just left driving a vehicle, officers contacted John Colley, 25, of Anchorage. Colley was arrested for allegedly violating his conditions of release and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial on $2,500 bail and a court approved third party.

TRESPASSING

July 7: Officers contacted Benjamin Henneman, 23, of Anchorage, Nicholas Nicoli, 19, of Palmer, and a 17-year-old female at the Palmer McDonald's. Officers knew the three had been issued trespass warnings and were not allowed on the premises. All three were arrested for allegedly trespassing in the second degree. The 17-year-old female was released to a parent. Henneman and Nicoli were remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Henneman's bail was set at $1,500 cash only and Nicoli's bail was set at $500 and a court approved third party.

HOUSE FIRE

July 8: Police Department responded to a house fire on west Montana Drive. The incident is under investigation with the assistance of the State Fire Marshal's Office.

WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT

MCA / MOCA

July 9: Police stopped James Woodin and Joshua Mullenix, both 19, from Wasilla, for allegedly driving a pick up truck off road when prohibited along Knik Goose Bay Road and Mack Road. Both individuals had been allegedly drinking and were charged with minor consuming alcohol and were issued a summons. Woodin was also issued a citation for operating a vehicle after consuming alcohol.

VANDALISM

July 9: Complainant Reather M. Williams, 55, of Wasilla reported arriving home from work to find her front door kicked in. Nothing was noticed to be missing during a cursory search of the residence. The investigation continues.

SHOPLIFTING

July 9: Police received a call from William Kinn, 34, of Wasilla stating he had two shoplifters in custody. Drew Litwack, 19, of Wasilla was given a municipal citation for alleged theft IV and the female juvenile was released to a guardian. The amount of merchandise taken was worth $11.21. The case against the juvenile will be forwarded to Juvenile Intake.

July 11: An employee of the Wasilla Chevron, reported a shoplifting suspect detained on suspicion of the theft of two packages of cigarettes. The value of the loss is $6.25. The suspect was a 13-year-old male. When police arrived, the suspect fled the scene, running westbound behind Wendy's on Webber Drive. The suspect was apprehended without incident behind Alaska Industrial Hardware. The suspect was cooperative and provided the stolen merchandise for recovery by store personnel. The suspect was transported to his residence and released to his parents. Charges will be forwarded to Juvenile Intake for the charge of theft IV.

THEFT

July 10: Jason McLin, 21, of Anchorage reported a theft and vandalism to equipment and vehicles. The incident allegedly occurred at a jobsite at Lucille Street and Aspen Street. McLin reported broken windows to a jobsite truck and a Volvo loader. A Honda generator was stolen and numerous items were spray painted as well. Loss and damages are estimated at approximately $4,000. The investigation is continuing.

DWLR

July 10: Police arrested Tonya L. Sandidge, 24, of Willow for allegedly driving while her license was revoked and two outstanding warrants after she was stopped for not wearing her seat belt and having an expired registration. The warrants were for an original charge of driving while license was suspended in the amount of $500 and for failing to appear for a driving under the influence arrest in the amount of $250. Sandidge was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility, where bail was set at $500 cash for the charge of driving while license was revoked.

MVC

July 10: Police responded to the intersection of Alpine and the Parks Highway for a two-vehicle collision. Subsequent investigation revealed that George Kulhanek, 49, of Wasilla allegedly collided with a vehicle driven by Dennis Double, 58, of Wasilla. Kulhanek was cited for failing to yield after stopping.

ALASKA STATE TROOPERS

MVC

July 10, 1:42 p.m.: Troopers responded to the Coffee Cabin in Talkeetna for a reported MVC. Investigation indicated that Robert Gunter, 65, of Anchorage was driving a 2004 motor home and allegedly turned a corner too sharp and struck a parked 1997 Saturn two-door sedan. The motor home sustained very minor damage to the back right, and the Saturn sustained about $1,000 of damage to its front left. There were no injuries reported.

July 10, 2:18 p.m.: Troopers responded to the intersection of the Old Glenn Highway and Plumley Road for a two-vehicle collision. Investigation revealed that a 1995 Ford Crown Victoria, driven by Virginia Musgrove, 76, of Palmer was southbound on the Old Glenn Highway when it attempted to make a left turn onto Plumley Road and was allgedly struck by a 2001 Chevrolet pickup driven by Meghan Hunsuck, 21, of Palmer, which was northbound on the Old Glenn Highway. Both occupants reported wearing safety belts and suffered minor injuries. Total damage for both vehicles was estimated at $10,000.

July 9, 5:02 p.m.: Troopers responded to a report of a vehicle accident near the intersection of Kenny Lane and Shadow Lane in Willow. Investigation revealed that a 1974 dump truck driven by Larry Otis, 52, of Big Lake was traveling west on Kenny Lane. A 2005 Chevy Caviler driven by James Delaney, 29, of Willow stopped at the stop sign on Shadow Lane and made a right turn onto Kenny Lane before looking to his right. The Caviler allegedly ran into the side of the dump truck as it was passing by. There was no damage to the dump truck and the Caviler was totaled. Everyone was wearing a seat belt and there were no injuries.

July 9, 10:06 a.m.: Troopers responded to a report of vehicle accident near Mile 83 of the Parks Highway. Investigation revealed that a 2002 Kia driven by Robert Johnston, 78, of Fairbanks blew a tire, lost control and entered the on-coming lane. A 2001 Ford Motor home was traveling in the opposite direction driven by Jean Lavoie, 64, of Quebec. Both vehicles attempted evasive maneuvers but still allegedly hit the sides of each other. The Kia slid all the way down the motor home before coming to a stop. Everyone involved were wearing seat belt, and there were no injuries. Both vehicles were able to leave the scene under their own power.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

July 10, 9:18 a.m.: Mike Kelly, 58, of Talkeetna reported that his fence located near the intersection of Nagley Street and Main Street in Talkeetna had been taken down and damaged sometime between 9 p.m. July 9 and 9 a.m. July 10. Damage was estimated at $500. Investigaion is ongoing. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Talkeetna post of the Alaska State Troopers at 907-733-2256.

THEFT

July 10, 8 p.m.: Eric Moffitt, 30, of Palmer reported his 2004 Floe Trailer, bearing Alaska license plate 9275RM, had allegedly been stolen from outside his residence located on Gunny Sack Road in Palmer. The case is under investigation.

July 11, 5 p.m.: Troopers arrested Brian Bosch, 23, of Wasilla for theft by receiving II, III and IV and making a false report. Bosch was remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial with a set bail of $5,000. He was originally contacted for pawning stolen property.

July 11, 3:22 p.m.: Troopers received a report of a black 1999 Ford F350 with Alaska plate EFA612 was being stolen from in front of a residence located on south Rainbow Street in Wasilla. The F350 was last seen parked in front of the residence at approximately 2:30 p.m. Anyone with information on this crime should contact the Alaska State Troopers at 907-373-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 907-745-3333.

DUI / MOCA

July 11, 11 p.m.: Troopers stopped a Pontiac sedan on Helen Drive for an equipment violation. The driver was identified as Brent Ladd, 17, of Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Ladd was driving under the influence of alcohol. Ladd was arrested and remanded into the Mat-Su Youth Facility where bail was set at $500.

TRESPASS AND

HARASSMENT

July 10: Troopers responded to Sutton for a report of an intoxicated person causing a disturbance at a local business. Jesse Westcoast, 47, of Sutton was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass II and harrassment II. Westcoast was remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $750 bail.

CLOSED WATERS

July 8, 8:25 p.m.: Wildlife Troopers contacted Kira Sanarov, 22, of Wasilla for allegedly fishing at Upper Montana Creek upstream of the half-mile ADF&G marker. Sanarov was issued a citation for fishing in a closed area. Bail was set at $110 in the Palmer District Court.

July 8, 8:30 p.m.: Wildlife Troopers contacted Dimitry P. Snegirev, 31, of Wasilla for allegedly fishing at Upper Montana Creek upstream of the half-mile ADF&G marker. Snegirev was issued a citation for fishing for king salmon in a closed area. Bail was set at $110 in the Palmer District Court.

July 8, 8:35 p.m.: Wildlife Troopers contacted Freddy Bodunov, 22, of Wasilla for allegedly fishing at Upper Montana Creek upstream of the half-mile ADF&G marker. Bodunov was issued a citation for fishing for king salmon in a closed area. Bail was set at $110 in the Palmer District Court.

July 8, 7 p.m.: Wildlife Troopers contacted Kory P. Carlyle, 21, of Palmer for allegedly fishing at Upper Montana Creek upstream of the half-mile ADF&G marker. Carlyle was issued a citation for fishing in a closed area. Bail was set at $110 in the Palmer District Court.

USE OF BAIT WHERE PROHIBITED

July 6: Wildlife Troopers conducting a sport fishing patrol at Sheep Creek cited Bryan A. Gallagher, 23, of Chugiak for allegedly using bait in an artificial lure only area while fishing at Sheep Creek. Bail amount was set at $110.

July 8: Wildlife Troopers conducting a sport fishing patrol at Sheep Creek cited David M. Drussell, 29, of Palmer for allegedly using bait in an artificial lure only area while fishing at Montana Creek. Bail amount was set at $110.

FAILURE TO RECORD

July 7, 12:49 a.m.: Keith R. Sherer, 47, of Anchorage was cited by wildlife troopers for allegedly failing to log a king salmon over 20 inches. Bail was set at $110 in the Palmer District Court.
