ANCHORAGE DESIGN WEEK

DELISA RENIDIO: THE BAREFOOT GARDENER IN THE KITCHEN COOKBOOK

At this event, Delisa Renido discusses her new cookbook and demonstrates how to prepare delicious plant-based recipes. The Barefoot Gardener in the Kitchen Cookbook contains 132 plant-based recipes for people who want to be slim & healthy and who love to eat. With color photographs, the cookbook highlights the use of whole plant foods that support optimal health and vitality. Delisa Renido, a former RN, holds a Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell University and is a Certified Life Coach, skilled in using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). HOG DAYS OF SUMMER

The Rustic Goat is excited to invite you to their Turnagain/Spenard neighborhood block party, Hog Days of Summer! PAY WHAT YOU CAN PREVIEW OF MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

Much Ado About Nothing is widely considered to be Shakespeare's best comedy. This joyful play combines mistaken identities and robust merriment, with honor and court politics. Benedick and Beatrice battle their love with a merry war of wits, while Claudio and Hero’s romance is challenged by rumor and deceit. Will love triumph with two happy marriages? BULL DURHAM (1988): 30TH ANNIVERSARY PRESENTATION

Crash is an aging minor league ball player, brought up from another team to mature a young pitcher with maturity problems. DAY OF CARING FOOD DRIVE

No one should have to go hungry. Not today. Not in our community. The Day of Caring Food Drive is often the largest single day food drive in Anchorage. The many thousands of nutritious meals that will result from the food drive will go a long way to helping kids do better in school and keep struggling families on the pathway to financial stability. Donations will be accepted between 10am and 5pm and can be made at 2121 Spar Avenue.

HEALTHY EATING CLASSES AT FRED MEYER

Sign up for this free, guided grocery store tour that will teach you how to shop for healthy food on a budget! As we walk the aisles, Nutrition Educator Val will explain the importance and the benefits of the different food groups. You will learn how to read and understand nutrition labels, shop for seasonal produce, unit pricing, and alternatives to common processed foods. WIC participants will be guided on how to use their vouchers and where to find the WIC approved items. Limit 6 people each tour - tours are NOT limited to WIC participants only. MULDOON FARMERS MARKET

Fresh produce from local farms and gardens, locally cooked and baked foods, Alaska arts and crafts, live music. Family friendly. Accessible playground. ANCHORAGE OUT OF THE DARKNESS COMMUNITY WALK

The 9th Annual Anchorage Out of the Darkness Community Walk will be held at the Albrecht Ball Fields. Check-in and day-of registration opens at 11:00 am and the opening ceremony is about 11:45 am. The walk will go on rain or shine, so please be prepared for any type of weather. The walk follows the Campbell Creek and University Lake Trails and is approximately 3 miles on both paved and unpaved paths. We do share the path with others, so please follow the path rules. The route is not technically challenging, has some elevation change, and is wheelchair friendly throughout the majority of its length; however not entirely flat. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Learn more about your digital camera and outdoor photography in this all-day intensive workshop. After a brief classroom introduction, you will head out on the trails to sharpen your skills with professional photographer Colin Tyler Bogucki. Attendees must provide their own camera gear and be prepared to hike five miles throughout the day. Registration required. The workshop fee of $75 is non-refundable, unless workshop is cancelled due to low attendance. Attendees must provide their own camera gear (SLR not smartphone camera), tripod recommended, backpack with water, food & gear, and be prepared for hiking 5 miles. SHAKES TALES
