On January 1, 2016, while commuting home from work, Pyotr “Peter” Kudryn, died in a tragic traffic accident on Knik Goose Bay Road in Wasilla, Alaska.
Peter was born April 15, 1958, in Saratov, Russia and immigrated to the United States with his wife and 3 boys in 1989. In September of 1999, he moved his family from Walla Walla, Washington to Wasilla, Alaska, where they have resided since. Peter was planning to move to Kona, Hawaii, once his home was completed there, just two months from now.
Peter was dearly loved by his family and friends and brought much happiness to those around him with his wonderful smile and soft heart. He loved to travel, as well as history and geography, and could quote significant dates and facts of most countries from memory. He was active in his local church and helped his previous church back in Ukraine, on many occasions.
Peter was in charge of maintenance for the City of Palmer Police Department for the last 16 years. He also was a very popular food vendor at the Anchorage Saturday Market, selling Russian Piroshkies for the last 8 years.
In the words of one of his children: "Please keep my family in your prayers. My father was a true warrior for his family. I can't express in words my feelings. He was such a strong support and pillar in my life. He told me when I should change my ways, helped me avoid many pitfalls in life, taught me how to work hard and be successful, showed as a living example how to take care of his family and those around him, loved my mother sincerely and his death creates a massive unfulfilled space in our family. In the 31 years of marriage to my mother I have never seen a single argument between them and nothing but compassion and love. How many can say this? Not a single argument!”
Peter is survived by his wife of 31 years, Galina Kudryn, and their 12 children, ages 9-30. He will always be loved, treasured, and remembered as a wonderful father.
A memorial service will be held at Wasilla Bible Church, 1651 W Nicola Ave, Wasilla, AK 99654, this Saturday Jan 9 at 1 p.m. Final resting place will be in Walla Walla, Washington.
