Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

R.E. Clement, 80, died July 31 at home in Wasilla of natural causes. He lived in Anchorage from 1956-1981 before moving out to Wasilla.
He was employed with the oil fields for many years and retired in 1981.
He loved clam digging, fishing and berry picking with his wife.
His family states, “R.E. loved to be around with all his children and great-grandkids. He loved to go camping and fishing for hooligans, salmon, and halibut.
He loved to go with his wife Florence to Hatcher Pass and pick blueberries. He is well-known to be kind and treat people with respect. We really miss you, his grandkids will miss their “pom-pa.”
He is survived by his wife Florence M. Clement of 43 years, sons, Raymond, Cleve, Troy and daughter Rosetta; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Raymond “Chase,” Randy, Charmon, Takota Gibson, Miranda, Brandon Clement; sisters, Hazel Wisherhop of Santa Rosa, Calif.,, Helen Krauter of Fort Worth, Texas, brother, Calvin Fields of Bakersfield, Calif., other living Children, Debbie Maltone of Bakersfield, Calif., Karen “Lelea” Alexander of Oklahoma, and Rory Clement of Oklahoma.
Preceded in death by father Tut Clement, Mother Carrie Welch, sister Lenora Alvergott, children, Carmon, Angelique and Sonny Boy Clement, and granddaughter Florenique Clement.
A visitation and service was held Thursday at Sacred Heart Parish. Burial was at Aurora Cemetery in Wasilla with Father Bill officiating.
Pallbearers were: Raymond E., Cleve O., Troy C., Jeffrey A., Raymond “Chase,” and Randy E. Clement.
