Rachel Kristin Maxwell went to be with her Lord on October 28, 2024 following a lengthy illness. Although she was taken far too soon, the memories that she leaves will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
As a child, Rachel loved riding snowmachines, reading, and arts and crafts. Some of her happiest moments were spent roller skating, ice skating, swimming and going to hockey games.
Rachel was a much-loved babysitter whose creativity and imagination made her a favorite with children. She also enjoyed DIY projects, gardening, home décor, essential oils, flowers, baking, making things to encourage others and singing in her church worship team.
She attended Ecola Bible College and through them was able to go on the trip of a lifetime to visit Israel. She began a nursing program through UAA in order to fulfill her dream of becoming a geriatric nurse and helping others. When her health precluded her from fulfilling that dream, she began a ministry to encourage others and spent many hours reaching out by baking, writing cards, and sending gifts to cheer them in their time of need.
Family was everything to Rachel. She had many special memories with each one. Especially dear to her were the "sister-days" she would spend with her sister Kristi, shopping, laughing, and joking; the mother/daughter talks she would share with her mother Tammy who taught her by example how to give and love well; and the hours she would spend discussing music with her dad Scott who shared her passion for music. Her greatest joy was spending quiet evenings at home with the love of her life, her husband Ben.
Even more, however, than the love she had for her family was the deep passion and love that she had for her God and Savior. It was her love for Him that motivated her big heart, that made her want to encourage, bless, and do for others even in the midst of her own storm.
Rachel is survived by her husband Ben, parents Scott and Tammy Parker, sister Kristi Bloomstrom (Jeremy), nieces Miah and Jordan Bloomstrom, grandmothers Alice Lowney and Margaret Parker, in-laws Craig and Lorrie Maxwell, Kevin and Janeen Maxwell, Becky and Tom Lutz, nieces Ruth Maxwell, Lorrie and Elsie Lutz, nephews James, Jacob, Joseph, Joshua and Jonathan Maxwell, Thomas and George Lutz, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Rachel was preceded in death by their son Caleb, grandfathers Ken Lowney and Bob Parker, and uncle Jim Parker.
In love God sent this treasure rare.
In love God lent her to our care.
And heaven's dearer to us now,
Our Rachel's there.
At Rachel's request, no memorial service will be held. The family suggests that friends and family wishing to honor her memory might make a donation in her name to the ministry of their choice.
