Ramona Evelyn Carlson, 60, passed away at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center on December 15, 2023. She was born in Minnesota March 13, 1963. She was raised in small farms there until July 2, 1971 when the family moved to Alaska. First place lived was in Wasilla, Alaska. Then their family lived in Anchorage and Chugiak for four years. In the summer of 1975, she moved to the remote family Homestead at Wilderness Lake, Alaska. After three years of roughing it, the family moved to Fairbanks, AK where she attended high school, beauty school and got her GED. Then she moved to Anchorage where she met her community husband Rich Steele. He preceded her in death due to pneumonia. Ramona then moved to the Valley in Wasilla area where she spent the majority of her life. She worked as a mail handler, housecleaner and at a retirement home in Palmer. Her favorite hobby was beading, but she also enjoyed coloring and made calendars for family. Ramona's quote was: "I'm handlnit!" She is survived by adult children, Dustin and Chelsea. They gave her several grandchildren. There is a GoFundMe account set up to help with her final expenses.
