Randy Ledbetter, 54, died March 30, 2014, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer.
He was born Dec. 24, 1959, in Enterprise, Ore., to Joann Freels Ledbetter and Gerald Ledbetter.
He moved to Alaska in his early 20s while he was in the Army. Once out of the Army, he decided to stay in Alaska. With hunting, fishing and such a beautiful place he always said who could want more.
He worked in construction for many years, mostly helping to build houses. He also loved to carve and do scrimshaw. He had a real talent and was very good at it.
Living in Alaska, he met some wonderful friends and they became his family. His friends helped him in his time of need and I am truly thankful for them.
“I’m also grateful for the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for the care they gave to my brother in his last days,” his sister wrote.
Preceding him in death was his mom, Joann; his birth father, Gerald; and his stepfather, George Gill.
Surviving is his sister, Donna of Oregon.
“I, as Randy’s sister, believe while you are reading this he is fishing in the most beautiful place and is at peace,” his sister wrote.
