Raymond Lee DePriest Sr.

Longtime Alaska resident Mr. Raymond Lee DePriest Sr. “Moose,” 87, went to Heaven on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at the Pioneer Veterans Home in Palmer, Alaska.

A memorial mass will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at St. Michael’s Parish, 432 E. Fireweed Ave. in Palmer. Father Jaime Mencias will officiate. A memorial gathering and potluck will immediately follow the services at St. Michael’s Parish. A dish for the potluck reception would be appreciated.

Raymond was born in St. Ignatius, Montana, on April 8, 1928, to his parents, Linnus and Georgia Berry-DePriest. Raymond, a family man, was loved and deeply appreciated by all who knew him across Alaska and the country.

Surviving are his beloved spouse, Rose “Tiny” Vickaryous-DePriest; children and their spouses, Ann & Ron Svedin, Linnus DePriest, Michelle DePriest, Ray and Jana DePriest, Georgia Stansell and Monte Goodrich, Thomas DePriest and Tracy Hazen, John and Stacey DePriest, Gerry and Maryann DePriest, and Jesse and Katie DePriest; grandchildren, Jason and Kayla Svedin, Tyler Svedin, Brian Svedin, Nathan Svedin, Sarah Svedin, Thorton DePriest, Kenyon DePriest, Kaleb DePriest, Kalei DePriest, Leya DePriest, Hannah DePriest, Calvin DePriest, Mac DePriest, Sean and Yoshie Holland, and Bridget Holland; great-grandchildren, Sarah Svedin and Lydia Svedin; nephews, Bobby Fenton and Bob DePriest, and close family friend, Phil Thompson.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Linnus and Georgia Berry-DePriest, and stepmother, Louise DePriest; brothers, Delmer and Avis DePriest, and Wayne and Helga DePriest; children, Edwin DePriest and Steven DePriest; nephews, Tommy DePriest and Danny DePriest; and close family friend, Erling Floe.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to favorite charities.
