Raymond Lester Gakin, 61, formerly of Wasilla, died of respiratory failure March 9, 2012, at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd, Minn.
Ray was born Feb. 6, 1951, in Brainerd, Minn., to Lloyd and Elvera (Olson) Gakin.
Raymond worked in construction and auto sales. As an outdoorsman, Ray enjoyed fishing and hunting. As an artist, Ray was a talented wood carver and stippling artist of ducks, fish and birds. He will be greatly missed by friends, family and loved ones.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and brothers, Larry and Richard.
Surviving are his brother, Robert (wife Judy) Gakin; sister, Elaine; many nieces and nephews in Minnesota; and granddaughter, Kali Boyer of Wasilla.
Services are planned in Minnesota.
