Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Reba C. Ward, 93, died July 11, 2012, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer from pneumonia.
She was born Dec. 31, 1918, in Lillington, N.C. She moved to Wasilla in October 2008.
She was a federal employee at the Naval Weapons Center in China Lake, Calif. She was also an electronics technician, chemistry lab technician and electron scanning microscope technician. She retired in 1977 from the Naval Weapons Center.
She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Phil Knight of Wasilla; daughter and son-in-law, Saundra and Gary Wydra of Ridgecrest, Calif.; grand-daughter, Denise Knight, husband Kevin and their children Justin, Logan, Colby and Morgan of Palmer; grandson, Brad Knight, wife Kristen and their children Rainee and Dakoda of Palmer; and grandson, Paul Wydra, wife Deborah and their children Emily and Matthew of Oakton, Va.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 58 years, Ray Ward.
Services were July 16 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Wasilla. Officiating was Pastor Aaron Payne. The burial was July 18 at Palmer Pioneer Cemetery.
The family was taken care of by Legacy Kehl’s Palmer Chapel in Palmer.
