Rex was born November 18, 1924 in Bagley Iowa. He married his high school sweet heart, Margie Martin December 24, 1944 in Fairview Montana. In 1954 he brought his young family to the Territory of Alaska. Rex retired from Civil Service on Elmendorf AFB in 1988. He and his wife moved to the valley to enjoy spending their retirement years, fishing, camping and especially spending time with family. Rex’s family wrote, to the many people who knew him, he was an amazing example of what a loving husband, dedicated father, and generous grandfather should be. He was a man that lived a life of adventure and hard work and never gave up on anyone or anything. He touched the heart of all he came in contact with and while we are saddened and will miss him, we know he is resting in the arms of Jesus, reunited with loved ones who went home before him.
He is survived by his sons Michael Erps and wife Vicki, Gene Erps and wife Cindy; Daughter Kaylea Sission and husband Jack; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
He is predeceased by his wife Margie; and oldest son Richard.
