Richard Holmes

Richard Jay Holmes, 47, of Big Lake passed away March 4, 2008 at home peacefully with his family. He survived cancer for one year, nine months and four days.

Holmes was a resident of the area since 1984. He was born Aug. 13, 1960 in Worcester, Mass., to Robert Holmes and Barbara Tribett.

Surviving are his wife, Judy M. Holmes; daughters Jennifer Holmes of Worcester, Mary Transki of Anchorage, Sarah Transki, Hannah Transki and Rebba Transki of the Mat-Su Valley; two granddaughters and one grandson; brother David Roux of Big Lake; and sister Debbie Molrey of Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Holmes and Barbara (Tribbet) Roux.

His family wrote, “Richard has always been an open-minded, great-hearted man. He loved fishing, hunting, trapping and gardening. Richard was the greatest husband and father anyone could ever have. He has made an impact on our lives. Richard will always be a part of us and will be in our hearts forever.

“We will all be reunited together in Heaven; Richard will be greatly missed and remembered. One thing that we would like him to know is that ‘We love him, it’s not goodbye, and we will see you later.’”
