Richard Reynders, a Navy veteran, born August 16, 1921, in Glendale, California, passed away on April 27, 2016, at the age of 94 surrounded by his loving family. He was married to his wife, Carol, for 67 years until her death four years ago. Richard arrived in North Pole, Alaska in 1969, to fulfill his dream of becoming a gold prospector, mining off the Steese Highway out of Fairbanks and in Kantishna, in Denali Park. In the off season, he worked in the union as a master carpenter. He is survived by his four children, eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. His family thanks the Alaska Veterans Pioneer Home in Palmer for their loving care.
