Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Richard (Dick) S. Wargi, 74, of Edna Bay passed away Jan. 11, 2015, at the Sitka Pioneer Home following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Dick was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Oct. 30, 1940, to John and Gladys Wargi. He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1958. He worked in the logging industry in Northern Idaho and Western Montana for more than 25 years.
He relocated to Wasilla in 1983 and later to Willow; working in construction until moving to Edna Bay in the summer of 2002. He continued to work in Willow each work season until his retirement in 2010.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sharon, of Edna Bay; daughter, Myla (Terry) Poelstra of Edna Bay; sons, John (Sue) Wargi of Sagle, Idaho, Joe Wargi of Edna Bay, and Jim Wargi of Wasilla; grandsons, Brian, Tyler, and Teran Poelstra, and Johnathan (Gabriela) Wargi; granddaughter, Stephanie (Kalen) Meek; great grandsons, Nicholas, Jacob, and Johnny Meek; and sister, Jeri Adams of Schert, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dave.
