Robert “Bob” Gagnon

Robert “Bob” Gagnon, 66, of Wasilla, passed away unexpectedly January 27, 2022, at his cabin in the woods. Robert was a long time Wasilla resident, he was born on September 14, 1955, to Edward and Darlene Gagnon in Manteno, Illinois. Robert served in the Army and was a member of the 101st Airborne Infantry Special Forces, serving during the Vietnam Era. The Army brought him to Alaska, where he found his forever home. In 1985 he married Kathleen Link, his wife of 37 years. Together they have four sons, Westley (wife Breana) Gagnon, Mackenzie Gagnon, Chandler (wife Trinity) Gagnon, and Dawson Gagnon, all of Wasilla. The joy of family included for Robert four grandchildren, Hope, Annabella, Westley Jr., and Loretta.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and his sisters, Thelma Perry (OK), Dianne Smith (IN), Donna Yoder (IN), and Renae Aldein (MO), many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman, fishing and hunting were for subsistence, a way of life, to feed his family. But also, they provided pure enjoyment of the hunt, the catch. Bob was your expert back yard mechanic/handyman, he could fix anything! Bob was a diehard rock and roll fan. He was a lifetime member of the Amvets and a founding member of local post #9. A Celebration of Life will be held for Bob at the Amvets Post #9, 1591 Creste Foris in Wasilla on Sunday, February 20th at 2:00 pm. Burial will take place at a later date in the family plot at St Mary’s Cemetery in Beaverville, Illinois.
