Robert Carroll Frisby

Robert Carroll Frisby passed away unexpectedly of apparent heart failure March 31 2007. Bob was born in Big Rapids, Mich. Jan. 15, 1948. He moved to Alaska in 1958 with his family, settling in the Palmer area in 1962. He attended Palmer schools and graduated from West High School in Anchorage.

Bob joined the U.S. Army and served in the U.S., in Germany, and in Vietnam doing mechanical repair. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Army Commendation medal, and the Vietnam campaign medal. He lived in Seward, Alaska for a 11 years where he was a member of Seward Chapel. He returned to the Palmer area in 1995.

Bob worked in maintenance, cabinet making, auto repair, and construction. He was currently employed by Valley Services of Sutton, Alaska where he worked for more than 10 years. His hobbies were woodworking, drafting and working on cars and equipment.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Frisby, and sister Ruth Ann Frisby. He is survived by his mother, Eleanora A. Frisby; brothers Larry E . Frisby, James A. Frisby and Daniel M. Frisby and sister Jeanne L. Nichols, all of Palmer, Alaska, and brother Steven F. Frisby of Camas Washington. He was "Uncle Bob" to all of his brothers' and sister's children and grandchildren.

Bob was always ready to help anyone who needed help and had many friends who always knew they could rely on him. Bob was loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed and remembered. They are comforted by the fact that Bob was a Christian and that they will meet him again. Well-wishers are asked to memorialize Bob by holding their loved ones close and remembering that this life is temporary.

Leona &#8220Lee” Shanks

Mrs. Leona &#8220Lee” (Bruckbauer) Shanks, 81, died March 23, 2007 at her home in Palmer of an accidental fall. A memorial service will be held April 7, 2007, at 4 p.m. at the American Legion Post #15.The American Legion Auxiliary will officiate. A potluck will follow the service. Leona was born May 30, 1925 in Wagner, Montana. She graduated from Wasilla, High School. She began her Alaska residency in 1936 when she moved to Palmer, Alaska. She enjoyed gardening and canning.

Her family wrote, &#8220She arrived in Palmer with her parents and siblings in 1936. They homesteaded in what is now called the Gershmel Loop area. Mom made the best cole slaw and awesome strawberry-rhubarb pie.”

She is survived by her sister, Agnes Porhola of Ferndale, MI; sons, Cary and spouse Eva of Brookshire, TX, Tom and spouse Patsy of Sun Valley, NV and Howard and spouse Wanda of Chugiak, AK; grandchildren, David, Anzie, Laura, Paulo, James, Tiffany and A.J.; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Edward Stanley Lynch

Edward Stanley Lynch, 92, died March 30 2007 at the Palmer Pioneer Home in Palmer, Alaska. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 7, 2007' at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Wasilla. Pastor Fred Stroud will officiate.

Ed was born May 25, 1914 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Dennis E. and Judith B. Lynch. He graduated from high school there. In 1936 he married the love of his life Margaret &#8220Peggy” Lynch.

In 1948 he came to Alaska to work as a Food Service Manager for Northwest Airlines, which at that time was flying out of Elmendorf AFB. In 1949 he went back to Minnesota and brought his wife and three children up over the Alcan highway. They made their home in Anchorage where he worked for various other companies, finally retiring from Firestone as their district representative for Alaska. He retired to the Valley and finally to the Palmer Pioneer Home in 1986.

He was a member of Crimestoppers, CBMC, Palmer Chamber of Commerce and the American Legion. He was always twisting someone's arm to get something donated to the Palmer Pioneer Home to make it more beautiful or useful for the residents there. He did such a great job of it that in 1993 he received Alaska's First Lady Volunteer Award. For many years he went to the Senior Joke and storytelling at the Fair, where he won a whole wall of mostly first place ribbons. The storytellers can now move up in rank as the king has retired.

His family wrote, &#8220Ed left a legacy to his family and friends of love and

encouragement.”

Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife Peggy, four brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his brother, Dale Lynch and sister Barbara Ewald of Minnesota; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Judy Lynch of Anchorage, AK; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Ellen Lynch, and daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Vern Neddeau of Wasilla; grandchildren Jackie Lynch, Jennifer (Randy) Howard, Deborah (Brad) Wilson, Maria (Dennis) Chavez, Michael (Maria) Lynch, Theresa (Kenneth) Chrisman, Joel (Rhonda) Lynch, Corinna (Thomas) Schachle, Christian Mandregan, Melissa (Mark) Triche, Robert (Michelle) Sande and Kelly Hall; 33 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
