Wasilla resident Robert Dayton Belman, 42, died July 22, 2012, in Anchorage.

A service is at 1 p.m., Aug. 4 at Moose Lodge No. 1534, 4211 Arctic Blvd., Anchorage. A celebration of life follows the service to share stories and remembrances.

Rob was born Oct. 22, 1969, in Lansing, Mich. He made Alaska his home since 1981. He worked as a carpenter with NMS staffing at the Bornite Mine, as an oilrig worker on the North Slope with Nabors/Doyon and was self-employed as a carpenter since 1990. He married Jennifer Belman on July 27, 2007. He especially enjoyed the arrivals of his grandkids and lived for the time spent with them being their Papa.

His family wrote: “Rob has a heart the size of Alaska and a sense of humor to match. Rob held a special place in his heart for animals, children and seniors. He was always willing to help those around him in need. Rob is loved dearly by all who knew him and will be missed more than life itself.”

Surviving are his wife, Jeni Belman of Anchorage; parents, Jean and Bob Belman of Big Lake; brother, Shawn Belman of Anchorage; niece, Jamie Bates of Anchorage; stepson, Mike Brewer of Anchorage; step-daughter, Gina Smith of Anchorage; grandchildren, Sydnie Brewer, Alora Smith and Derek Brewer of Anchorage; aunts, Mary Murphy and Marlene Nyitray of Michigan; and uncles, Dan, Joe and Elmer Belman, and Marty, Lewis, Mike and Merle of Michigan.

Preceding him in death was his mother-in-law, Judy Kendall.

Donations can be made in Rob’s name to Alaska SPCA, 549 W. International Airport Rd., Suite B-2, Anchorage, AK 99503, or the donor’s charity of choice.

Arrangements were by the Cremation Society of Alaska.
