Robert Hugh Brown, born October 8, 1956. Robert, a longtime resident of Alaska, died peacefully in Reno, Nevada, on September 16, 2016, surrounded by family.

Robert, a dreamer of the highest order, was a caring good natured and giving man with unfathomable patience — always ready and willing to help those in need, especially senior citizens.

He received two associate degrees in human services from the Finlandia University in Hancock, Michigan, where he was born. He volunteered extensively to include hurricane Andrew relief, Arc of Anchorage, the Red Cross and was an active advocate for senior issues here in the valley. He belonged to Toastmasters and Masters of Men.

He worked on the Alaska Railroad, the pipeline, and did carpentry and woodworking for most of his life. He made walking sticks which can be found throughout the U.S with his lone wolf symbol. He dearly loved gardening and sharing his crops with friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas E. Brown, in 2006.

Robert leaves behind a loving family: his mother, Delores Brown of Palmer, Alaska; his brothers Thomas and Ken; his sister Debra Whaley, all of Palmer, Alaska; his niece Danielle Carlson of Palmer, Alaska; his nephews Travis Heuter of Panama City, Florida; Garrett Pietrok of Wasilla, Alaska, and Thomas Brown III of Palmer, Alaska; his grandniece, Brooke Carlson, his grand nephews, Chase Carlson and Micah Scandura, all of Palmer, Alaska; and numerous cousins in Michigan, Missouri and Florida.

His positive attitude and friendly smile will be missed.
