Robert Loran Rader

Robert Loren “Randy” Rader, 72, of Wasilla, died April 14.

Bob was born on Feb. 18, 1937 to Calvin and Beatrice Rader, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was the eldest of four children. He graduated in 1955 from Coeur d’Alene High School. Bob spent his early adult years fencing all over the US, including a work trip to Alaska in 1964. After falling in love with the state on his previous visit, he made the move to Alaska in 1978 with his wife Randi Kay. Bob owned and operated a fencing company for many years, traveling across the entire state. He started a family in 1981, having a daughter and later a son, who brought much joy to his life. After retiring from fencing, Bob devoted his time to his dream job of gold mining for the remainder of his life. Bob will always be remembered for his charisma and charm. He had many friends over the years, and was known for his giving nature and ever present desire for helping others.

He is survived by his wife Randi Kay, sister Karen VanSlate of Idaho, daughter Carrie Moss, son Bobby Rader, and grandchildren Tyler and Alex Moss; who spent much of their time with their loving Grandpa.

A Remembrance and potluck will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fronteras Spanish Immersion School, 7010 E. Bogard Road in Wasilla.
