Robert Reuben Tupelluq “Guy” Herman passed away on July 17, 2014.
Robert’s Yup’ik name is Tupelluq after his maternal grandfather Robert O’Brien of Naparyarmiut. His maternal grandmother was Agnes Lake (Seton) also of Naparyarmiut. On his father’s side Robert was Inupiaq originating from Shishmaref. His paternal grandfather was Ben Herman, and his paternal grandmother was Esther Herman (Attatayuk).
Robert loved his culture, and got out hunting and fishing any chance he got. He loved his family very much and adored his parents. Kids loved him. His nephews loved him. “Guy always plays with us,” they said. Guy was into cars, karaoke and driving. Everyone who knew him will always remember his big smile, and bigger heart.
Surviving are his mother, Beatrice; his father, Tommy; all his brothers and sisters; and far too many people to list. Services will be at noon, July 23, at St. Michael Church with interment to follow in Hooper Bay at a later date.
