Robert Vanson Young, 81, of Talkeetna, Alaska went be with the Lord, Saturday, July 25, 2020 at his home in Talkeetna.
Robert Vanson Young was born May 20, 1939 to Tom and Louise Young in Oberlin, Kansas.
Robert (Robbie) grew up in rural Decatur County. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1957. He was a wrestler and was state champion his senior year.
He attended a year of college at KSU. From there he went to Weaver Airline School in Kansas City. He was employed by Delta Airlines in Houston, Texas. He left Dallas in 1962 to pursue his dream of being a gold miner in Alaska.
Robbie remained in Alaska for the rest of his life, where he achieved his life dream. He had various gold mining operations in both Alaska and Canada.
In 1975, Robbie married Carol Stevens.
Robbie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carol, and brother Charles Young.
He is survived by three step children and their families; a sister, Margaret Ann (Young) Martin and husband, Kay H. Martin of McCook; a sister-in-law, Barbara Young of Colby, Kansas; many nieces and nephews and relatives; and a host of friends.
Robbie will be missed by many. He had many beloved friends who cared for him in his later days. He loved and trusted in the Lord.
