Roberta Lee Clark

Roberta “Bobbie” Lee (Sams) Clark, 78, died Dec. 24 at her home in Houston. She was born Dec. 16, 1930 in Bakersfield, Calif., to Harry H. and Alice (Miller) Sams.

Bobbie graduated as a registered nurse from the School of Nursing in San Francisco. Wen she was 50, in June of 1980, she packed her belongings and a teenage son and moved to Anchorage from Santa Cruz, Calif. She accepted a position as a registered nurse at Alaska Native Hospital. A couple of years later, Bobbie met Bud Clark in 1982 and they were married in 1984. She was a dedicated registered nurse, and she accepted the challenge of working in Panama from 1986 to 1988 at Gorgas Army Hospital then returned and finished her career at Pioneer Senior Center.

Bud and Bobbie built their retirement home at Cheri Lake which was her dream home. She enjoyed raising mallards, chickens and numerous pets. Bobbie enjoyed the lake, life, family and friends to the utmost.

Bobbie is survived by husband, Harold Bud Clark, of Houston; sons; Mark Maier of San Rafael, Calif., Matt Maier of Bend, Ore., and Eric Berglund of Anchorage; sister, Nancy Ernst of St. Helena, Calif.; daughters Barbara Lynn of Tucson, Ariz., and Laura Lusk of Doty, Wash.

Bobbie is also survived and remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, grandsons and granddaughters. She is preceded in death by sons, Michael Maier, San Jose, Calif., Gregory L. Clark, Chehalis, Wash., Scott Clark, Cliff, N.M., and Valance Clark, Doty, Wash.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mid Valley Senior Center, Wasilla, AK 99654.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Kathy and Matt Vogel residence, 20249 New England Drive, Eagle River. Before going, please call the Vogel residence 907-696-0980 for parking arrangements.
