Roberta Louise Huntley, known to all as Grandma Bert, 73, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 21, 2015, in Palmer, Alaska.
Services will be held at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Rd. SW, Tumwater, Washington, at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, with burial immediately following. A potluck gathering will take place following the service at the home of Geneva Hawkins, 4925 Orvas Ct. SE, Olympia, Washington.
A celebration of life potluck will be held in Alaska at the gazebo behind the Regan Building at 3161 E Palmer-Wasilla Hwy, Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, beginning at 4 p.m. Please bring your favorite dish and Grandma Bert stories.
Roberta was born Jan. 11, 1942, in Olympia, Washington, to Arthur and Reta Anderson. She graduated from Olympia High School in 1961 and married Ronald Allen Huntley on June 17, 1961. The family moved to Alaska in June 1970. She spent from 1988 until 2004 in Washington, California, Nevada and Arizona. She returned to Alaska in 2004 to be close to family.
In addition to being a homemaker, she owned and operated 5 Star Janitorial and Bert’s Enterprises with her husband, from the late 70s through the late 80s.
She told her children she has found her spiritual home at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Palmer, Alaska. No one was a stranger to her. Everyone talks about what a lovely person she was.
She is survived by her children, Ronda Hausser (Darrell), Ramona Huntley, Ryan Huntley, grandchildren Robert Hausser (Amanda), Sean Bottoms (Anya), Alicia Hausser, Heather Robinson, David Branholm (Lindsay), Randy Hunter, Jr. (Jennifer), McKenzie Schmidt, Gregory Schmidt, Samantha Dodds, 14 great grandchildren, two sister; Sylvia Briggs of California and Patricia ‘Trish’ Johnson of Oregon, plus numerous unofficially adopted grandkids.
