Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Robin Mathew Sorenson, at the young age of 59, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.
Private gatherings will be held at multiple locations in Wasilla and Big Lake, Alaska, in addition to Nehalem, Oregon.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 30, at the Roadside Inn, Mile 49.5 W. Parks Hwy, Wasilla, Alaska, 99629.
Robin was born on April 5, 1956, in Portland, Oregon. Robin later moved to Alaska in the mid-1900s and before settling down in Wasilla, he also resided in Kodiak and Homer. Robin enjoyed fishing, camping, road trips and his canine friends. Within the community, Robin extended his love of canines and was an Iditarod volunteer. He was an also an avid reader of all types of books.
Robin leaves behind his longtime companion, Lisa Winchester, and his dogs, Willow and Kiva. He also leaves behind many, many friends from Alaska and Oregon, and his sister, Kay Robin. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Robin was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Muriel Sorensen.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Robin’s memory to the Animal Rescue.
