Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Mr. Ronald Dale Payne, 74, passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at the Summit Worship Center, 125 W. Riley Ave., in Wasilla. Pastor Milt Michener will officiate. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. Additional services will be held at the Shiloh Bible Church in Almedia, Pennsylvania, with the date and time to be announced. He will be laid to rest in the Elan Memorial Cemetery in Almedia, Pennsylvania.
Ronald was born Nov. 19, 1941, to Dale Walter and Margaret (Andress) Payne in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, where he was raised and graduated high school. He worked as a truck driver for Interstate Amiesite, Bower Trucking, PennDOT and for Hartzell Disposal in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, from which he retired in October of 2014. He had served with the Army National Guard.
Ronald moved to Wasilla, Alaska, in November of 2014 and was a member of the Summit Worship Center. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing cars and collecting.
Ronald was preceded in death by his first wife, Dawn Hartzell-Payne; son, Gary Eugene Payne; and by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona Payne, of Wasilla, Alaska; sister, Linda Wenner, of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania; daughter, Sherry Sax, of Plains, Pennsylvania; sons, Randall Payne of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, and Dale Payne of Wasilla, Alaska; grandson, Aaron Payne, of Conyngham, Pennsylvania; granddaughters, Amanda and Samantha Sax, both of Plains, Pennsylvania, Rebecca and Rachel Payne, both of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania; and grandson, Randy Payne, of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
