Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Ronald Earl Bloom, 62, passed on to the Lord, April 18 at Providence Seward Hospital in Seward. He was born in Richland, Wash., March 1, 1947 to Earl and Ethel (Nelson) Bloom.
Ron attended Richland High School and completed his education in the Army and at Eastern Washington University with a BA in political science. Ron served his country in the Army, doing tours in Germany and Vietnam, as a combat engineer and demolition expert “tunnel rat.” In 1987 Ron and his wife Deborah, were married on Feb. 14, and moved to Alaska and lived in the Bush with their four children, Jeremy, Jim, Jessie and Meagan. Over the years Ron was involved in a number of different enterprises, including owing a Dojo, as a hunting guide, gold miner and trapper.
Ron is survived by his wife Deborah Bloom of Wasilla, as well his children, grandchildren and family members who are in abundance.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
Valley Funeral Home of Wasilla is in charge of arrangements.
