Ronnie “Ron” H. Cox, 73, passed from this world on March 4, 2015.

Ron was born Jan. 27, 1942, in Winterville, North Carolina, the last of six children born to George D. and Annie H. Cox. He received a Bachelor’s Degree of education from East Carolina University in 1964 and an in1975 a master’s of education from Columbus University.

Ron relocated to Columbus, Georgia, and spent 15 years teaching at Fort Benning, Georgia. During this time he met Linda Nelson and they married June 24, 1972. After three years, Ron and Linda moved to Fort Mitchell, Alabama, where they founded and pastored “My Father’s House Church” for three years before moving to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and graduating from Rhema Bible Training Center in 1983. They moved to Wasilla in 1985, founded New Covenant Life Ministries, and merged that ministry with Christian Love Center. Ron became Senior Pastor of Christian Love Center, which became Word of Faith Assembly as it is today. Ron also served as a Wasilla City Councilman from 2001 to 2009.

Ron is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda; two brothers and their wives, William B. Cox and Jerry of Richmond, Virginia; Dr. J. Grady Cox and Jean Cox, of Auburn, Alabama; sister in-law, Laverne Cox of Fleetwood, North Carolina; brother-in-law, John Nelson of Wasilla; and sister-in-law Margaret Cosmah.

Ron was preceded in death by both parents, George D. and Annie H. Cox; brothers, Elton G. Cox and Billy Wayne Cox; sister, Margaret Crawford; and brother in-law, Ralph Crawford.

Ron will be cherished for his infusion of a “have faith in God” attitude. He believed the gospel is the power of God unto salvation as stated in Romans 1:16. He was a skilled Bible teacher, a good leader who knew when to speak and when to be quiet. He had a sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He loved his pets from the first ones to his last two Schnauzers, Socrates and Princess. Although his last years were filled with health challenges, he always maintained, “God is good and his mercy endures forever.”

Pastor Steve Alexander will officiate at memorial services planned at 11 a.m., March 28 at Word of Faith Assembly, 3701 E. Bogard Road, Wasilla. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to Word of Faith Assembly, or to the charity of your choice, is requested.
