Sutton resident Rose Marie Barickman, 58, passed away on Dec. 29, 2014 after being flown by emergency aircraft to Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle, Washington for an aneurysm.
A service is at 2 p.m., Jan. 10 at the Sutton Baptist Church in Sutton, and a potluck will follow at The Alpine Inn in Sutton.
Rose was born Oct. 25, 1956, in Elkhart, Kansas, to Barbara and Lester Wares. She came to Alaska with her family in 1967 and graduated from Palmer High School in 1975. She was married to Michael Barickman from 1975 to 1983 and resided in the Palmer and Sutton area.
Rose attended The Academy of Hair Design in 1980.
In 1984 she moved with partner Anthony Payne to North Pole, where she lived for 26 years. In 2010 Rose made a life change and moved to Sutton where her kids built her a small home living next to her daughter.
Rose worked for Alaska Home Care as a personal caretaker until 2013 when her own health worsened and she too required care.
Rose enjoyed reading and working, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Rose is survived by her children, Jamie Huddleston and son-in-law, Cody, of Sutton; Elry Barickman and daughter-in-law, Jordan, of Wasilla; sons, Kevin Payne and Steven Payne, both of Sutton; five grandchildren, Kalen, Aubrie, Aidan, Dominic and Abel; and her siblings, Deanna Baker, Betty Magee, Lonnie (Dian) Wares and Don Wares.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara and Lester Wares.
“We lost a woman with the biggest heart and the sweetest smile,” family members said.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kehl’s Palmer Mortuary.
