Former Palmer resident Roy Gene Cannady, 72, died Oct. 8, 2007, at his home in Globe, Ariz. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Lamont Mortuary Chapel. Interment of ashes will be at the Desert Lawn Cemetery in Beaumont, Calif.
A former member of the Moose Lodge in Palmer, Cannady was a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers of Alaska. He loved horses and hunting.
Cannady was preceded in death by his son, Rick Cannady. He is survived by his wife, Alice (Kitts) Cannady of Globe, Ariz.; daughter Linda and son-in-law Paul Gavell of Sutton, Alaska; son Larry and daughter-in-law Patty of Corona, Calif.; son Steve Cannady of Cherry Valley, Calif.; sister Betty Smith of Jemisom, Ala.; sister Joanne Schienebeck of Wis.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
