Rubecca Lee Birtciel, age 34, passed away June 29, 2016 at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center following complications from Rett Syndrome. She was born June 4, 1982 in Soldotna, Alaska to Sherry Birtciel and Allen Stephens. Rubecca had an infectious laugh, wonderful big smile and loved to coo at people. She loved anything bright, flashy and sparkly. She enjoyed listening to music with her favorites of late being country and Justin Bieber. She loved going out in the community, people watching and stopping to get her favorite Orange Julius drink at Palmer Dairy Queen. She lived for massages and having the wind blow in her hair. In December 2014 she was able to take a trip of a lifetime to Disneyland with her care provider and two housemates. She had a wonderful time and saw all her favorite Disney characters. She loved looking at pictures from the trip.
She is preceded in death by Sherry Birtciel, Michael Birtciel and Jay Cowdery. She is survived by the many wonderful people who she has known over the years. She is thankful to Andrea and George Jennings, Wendy and Joel Davisson, Kelly and Joe Macon, Mat-Su Services for Children and Adult, Hearts and Hands of Care and HOPE for their care and services over the years. She holds her longtime housemate of many years Fannie in a special place in her heart. The two of them have shared many experiences together over the years and were a comfort to each other.
