Russell (Rusty) Raymond Thatcher passed away on September 4, 2018. He died peacefully at his home in Wasilla with his family all around him. Rusty was born on April 27, 1961 in Tucson, Az. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Elizabeth Durdle Thatcher, two sons Wesley and Nicholas, his mother, Susan, father, Raymond, three sisters; Barbara Gerard, Krista Van Soest, and Carrie Taylor, a brother, Calaway Thatcher, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rusty graduated from Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Arizona, enlisted in the Air Force, attended college for hospitality management and was a lifelong chef, feeding people from Arizona to Alaska. He and his wife were the proud owners of the restaurant, Rusty’s at Dahlia Street in Palmer, Alaska. Rusty was loved by one and all every day of his life until he was taken by Alzheimer’s Disease. The family will hold a private celebration of life. There will not be a public service.
