April 28, 1943 - February 19, 2025

Heaven gained a new angel on February 19, 2025, when Ruth Ann Hodsdon passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Palmer, Alaska, on April 28, 1943, to Kathleen and Ralph Moore, Ruth Ann was a proud third-generation Alaskan whose spirit and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.

Ruth was a beautiful soul loving, resilient, and deeply devoted to her family and friends. A talented beautician for many years, she later transitioned into managing a medical office, a role she excelled in with compassion and professionalism. After retiring, Ruth and her wonderful husband of 42 years, Max, enjoyed spending more time together and with their loved ones. They particularly cherished their annual trips to Mazatlán, where they forged lasting friendships with locals and welcomed family and friends from Alaska to share in the experience.

While Ruth loved retreating to the sunny beaches of Mazatlán during the winter months, she also embraced the beauty of Alaskan summers. If she wasn't helping Max with smoking or canning the day's fishing haul, you could often find her tending to her beautiful flowers, flourishing greenhouse, or bountiful vegetable garden. Ruth's nurturing spirit was evident in everything she did pouring love into her garden, home, family, and friends, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and beauty.

Though petite in stature, Ruth Ann's heart was immense. Her infectious smile, unwavering faith, and genuine appreciation for love and kindness radiated through everything she did. Her ability to make everyone around her feel loved and valued will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Ruth Ann is survived by her children: Cindy (Dickey), Juhree (Jim), Terrie, Mike (Jenny), Melody, and Mark; brother-in-law, Pat (Gloria); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Max Hodsdon; son, Jack Smith; parents, Kathleen and Ralph Moore; and sister, Mary Louise Nelsen.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 8th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 15, where Ruth was an active member for over 36 years. Light snacks and refreshments will be served. To know Ruth was to be loved by her, and all family and friends are invited to join in celebrating her.
