Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

R. Jeanette Allen passed away May 7, 2010, at the age of 77.
She was born April 25, 1933, in Charleston, S.C.
She is survived by her three children, Lizabeth Allen Spikes and her husband Hank Spikes, Lynn Adren Allen II and his wife Elizabeth A. Allen, and Roberta Jean Allen; aunt, Linda Martin; cousin, Pat Martin and his wife Debbie; brother, Robert Lincoln Bowden; grandson, James Spikes; nephew, William Franklin Caten and niece, Rebecca L. Ellis; grandnephews, William Franklin Caten Jr. and his wife Helen-Marie, Kenneth Howard Caten and his wife Katrina Marie; great-grandnieces and grandnephews, Margaret Mary, Tyler John, Jordan Marie, Caleb Alexander, Kendall Loring, Sutton Haley and Spencer Allen; and her kitty, “Hannah Dodger,” along with a host of other relatives and friends.
“She was a scholar of many things and beloved mother, grandma, sister, cousin and friend. She is our lifeline, even in her passing,” the family wrote.
A special “thank you” to Custom Care Givers and Lighted Pathways Hospice, which did a tremendous job of making her very comfortable in her final days.
Funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Virginia.
