Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Ruth LaSelle, 88, died Nov. 20, 2012 in Mercer Island, Wash.
Ruth LaSelle was born May 12, 1924, in Canby, Minn.to Peter and Rachel Norleman. Her family moved to Everett, Wash., where she attended high school and nurses training. Ruth attended Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Ore., where she sang in the choir and in a trio, both of which traveled to represent the school in churches and events.
She met Warren LaSelle at Multnomah, and they were married on June 14, 1948. In addition to raising four children, Ruth worked with Warren as a pastor’s wife, leading church choirs, Sunday school and Bible studies. She also worked as a nurse from time to time.
Ruth and Warren moved to Alaska in 1974 where they worked as missionaries in the Glenallen area, and moved to Wasilla in 1986, where they made their home for 20 years, and were very active in Wasilla Bible Church.
Surviving are her loving husband, Warren; daughter, Cris Goldy; sonsl David and Jon LaSelle; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, June Metcalf and Irma Norleman; and many other family members and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Muriel Swanson; and one son, Tim LaSelle.
She will be dearly missed.
A memorial service is at 2 p.m., Nov. 24 at Covenant Shores, 9150 Fortuna Drive, Mercer Island, Wash.
