Sally Jo Bay

Sally Jo Bay transitioned peacefully April 6, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her family. Sally was a 12-year survivor of breast cancer, recently diagnosed with lung cancer that she courageously fought, never losing her faith or her sense of humor.

At her request, there will be no service. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at the house in her Honor at a date yet to be determined. At her request for readings during this celebration are to be from our minds.

Sally Bay was born on January 17, 1959, in El Paso, Texas, to Floyd and Jean Henderson. She came to Alaska in July 1968.

“Sally met her soulmate and life partner, Dave, and they were married on July 4, 1981.”

At the time of her death, Sally was the bookkeeper for the family business, Water By the Bay, and also was raising two of her grandsons.

Sally was known for her kind heart, hosting all the family gatherings, her homemade pizza and her generosity. She found the greatest joy in making others happy.

She enjoyed drawing, being in the outdoors, yard work, gardening, the fire pit, camping, traveling and the beach. Her bird collection was one of her most prized possessions. In fact the morning she left us, the birds outside the house were singing like thousands of little angels!! It was truly awesome.

Sally lived life enjoying the simple things and those she loved.

She is survived by her husband, Dave Bay; children, Jamie Randolph, Jason Bay, Jackie Bay, Joe Bay; grandchildren, Kaylee, Peyton, Kyle, Dylon, Will, Dominic, Tyson and Karlee; Father, Floyd Henderson; Step Mother Roberta Henderson; sisters, Collette Jensen and Toni Hartley; and many in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Henderson, and older brother Floyd Henderson. Cremation took place April 7, 2017, and her ashes will be scattered this summer on the home property in Talkeetna and Girdwood.
