Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Ms. Sandra Annette Chamberlain, 73, passed away of natural causes on Sept. 21 at her residence in Wasilla, Alaska.
Sandra was born January 24, 1941 in Kansas City, Kansas. She moved to Alaska in 1962. Sandra began her career with the Iditarod Area School District in 1975 and retired in 1995. She was a member of the MLK Board, and also a member of the Baha’i faith.
Sandra was very family-oriented and just wanted to see her children succeed. She was dedicated to her job at IASD and strove to maintain the integrity of the school board and district. She believed in giving back to her community, and did her best to be of service to others.
Sandra is survived by her sons Vern Culling, of Wasilla; Jeffrey Culling, of Wasilla; Kevin Culling, of Lansing, Michigan; Benjamin Chamberlain, of Woodinville, Washington; her daughter, Amber-Grace Komakhuk, of Palmer; her grandsons, Alexander Norman, Dante Barker, Ryan Chamberlain, Jackson Chamberlain, Logan Komakhuk; and her granddaughters, Amilyn Culling, Amiah Barker, and Rebecca Chamberlain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Crawford and Lillian Tate.
Services were held at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Thursday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m.
