Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Sandra Jean Rutz, 60, of Wasilla and formerly of Albion, Mich., died March 12, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Jackson, Mich., after a two-year bout with cancer.
She was born July 26, 1950, in Dowagiac, Mich., to Lyle and Isabelle (Mosier) White. She was married to Dave R. Rutz.
Sandra was a dental assistant, and her life was centered around her daughters, grandchildren, pets and flowers.
Sandra is survived by husband, Dave R. Rutz of Wasilla; daughters, Michele (Jeff) O’Dell of Albion, Mich., and Melissa Dobson of Jackson, Mich.; stepson, Matthew Rutz of Oregon; grandchildren Yancy Dobson, Martell Dobson, Donavin O’Dell and Madisyn O’Dell; and her beloved cat, Buster. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Patricia Williams.
A graveside service was held March 17 at Albion (Mich.) Memory Garden. Memorial contributions can be made to The American Diabetes Association.
