Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Sandra Lynn Dunaway, 33, died July 27, 2013, at home in Wasilla.
Sandra was born March 2, 1980, in Anchorage and moved to Wasilla with her family in 1983. She attended Showshoe Elementary, Wasilla Middle and Wasilla High schools. Sandra was a member of the Girl Scouts of America and Special Olympics Mat-Su.
“She was always a fighter and will be in our hearts and minds forever,” her family wrote.
Preceding her in death were her maternal grandfather, Donald Luhr; and paternal grandfather, Roy C. Dunaway.
Surviving are her parents, Alyn and Donna Dunaway; brother, Gregory Dunaway and his significant other, Jenny Bailey, all of Wasilla; grandmothers, Katheryn Dunaway of Eastland, Texas and Beulah Luhr of Petersburg; uncles, Robert Luhr, Mike (Barb) Luhr of Petersburg, Ricky (Debbie) Dunaway of Longview, Texas; aunts, Joyce (Rob) Cummings or Petersburg, Sherry (Don) Williams of Gilmer, Texas, and Becky (Bill) Surber of Woodland, Texas, numerous cousins in Alaska and Texas.
Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
