Sarah E. Wood, 83, died Nov. 7, 2012, at her residence in Austin, Colo.
A viewing for family and friends is from 5 to 7 p.m., Nov. 16 at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel, Delta, Colo.
A funeral service honoring Sarah’s life is at 2 p.m., Nov. 17 at First Baptist Church in Delta, Colo. with Pastor Ethan Hanson officiating. Interment will follow at the Delta City Cemetery.
Sarah Elizabeth Harris was born Feb. 13, 1929, to Curtis Samuel and Sarah Fannie (Hartman) Harris in Darlington, Mo. She spent her childhood and attended schools in Darlington and Albany, Mo.
Sarah married John David Wood Jr. on Jan. 21, 1946, in Troy, Kan. To this union, five daughters were born. Sarah and John celebrated 66 years of marriage together this year. John survives.
Sarah, a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and playing the banjo. She also loved golfing, bowling, playing cards, and was an avid volleyball player when she was younger. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends who had the privilege to love and know her. Sarah was a member of the Faith Bible Fellowship in Big Lake and Living Waters Tabernacle in Denver, Colo.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years, John D. Wood Jr. of Austin, Colo.; daughters, Erma J. Rupp of Sun City, Ariz.; Barbara L. (Robert) Nord of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Debra S. (Shane) Bignell of Delta, Colo.; Janet L. (Rob) Yadon of Palmer; and Vicki A. (Embrey) Stults of Austin, Colo.; brother, Franklin Harris of Florida; sisters, Norma Jean Davis of Delta, Colo.; and Oletha King of Indian Hills, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
