PALMER — This month’s Saturday Art Walk features live music and a Valentine theme.

The Palmer High School Music Department will have choir students at all the stops during the early half of the walk and band members at the Palmer Museum.

The students will have raffle tickets — $5 each or five for $20 — to raise money for their Spring Break trip. Prizes, drawn at the high school’s swing dance after the art walk are:

1st A whole pig, processed & packaged

2nd Knik Glacier ATV Tour for two with Alaska Backcountry Adventure Tours

3rd Alaska Saltwater Lodge Fishing/Wildlife Tour Combo tirp for two in Seward

4th An electric acoustic guitar from Matanuska Music

5th Denali Zipline Canopy Tour for two in Talkeetna

The Art Walk says it is also looking for artists, musicians and demonstrators for future art walks. If you would like an opportunity to display your work and wares or give a live performance, please contact Kyndra White-Hunt at the Palmer Museum of History and Art. Openings are available on a first come, first served basis.

The February Art Walk is scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m., Feb. 14. Here are the stops and what they feature:

1 Shane Lamb Gallery

The gallery hosts artist June Pardue this month. Pardue is an Alutiiq artist from Kodiak Island. She has works from grass-woven socks and baskets to beaded headdresses in museums throughout Alaska. She also home-tans salmon skins for jewelry making and recently designed and created a salmon skin and sea otter fur jacket. She has been an invited artist at the Smithsonian Institute and the Autry National Center in Los Angeles. She is Cultural Provider for Set Free Alaska and the Mat- Su Borough School District and now lives in Sutton. The gallery also will host an in-store drawing from 2 to 5 p.m.

4 Palmer Museum

The museum‘s February exhibit, Out of the Closet 2015, is a collection of wearable art outfits from past Valley Arts Alliance wearable art shows. Members of the Palmer High School band will be performing live at the museum during the first half of the Art Walk. The Palmer Music Booster Club will sell raffle tickets and offer visitors the chance to decorate their own free Valentine’s Day cookies. The Museum will also have a free photo booth with props for visitors to capture that special moment with that special someone. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. the museum will raffle off a Palmer Museum baseball cap, a pair of Stuckonu Quillworks earrings and a mini Buddha Board. To enter, serenade their staff with part of a love song.

Arkose Brewery

The brewery invites you to tap into your inner artist while Arkose taps into their tap lines. The regular Beer Meets Canvas event runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $30, which buys one pint and all the art supplies you need. The brewery’s theme this month will be love so attendees are invited to bring that special someone. The event is open only to those 21 years or older and pre-registration is recommended. For more information or to register, contact Arkose Brewery at 746-BEER (2337).

The store will feature works from Palmer High School students, many of them enrolled in International Baccalaureate (IB) Visual Arts, a two-year, rigorous, college-prep art course. Students will be available in the store to discuss their works throughout the afternoon.

3 Fireside Books

From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The books store features Chad Meyer and Brian Hutton of SOWSEAR comic, an Anchorage-based publication halfway through its second year of publication. The artists will show off the four previous issues of the comic and solicit entries for future issues. The fifth is due out in March.
