PALMER — A 30-year-old Valley resident, Garret Livingston, was recently found guilty for the 2021 murder of 62-year-old Palmer resident Brian Bohman.
According to a press release from the Alaska Department of Law, Livingston was residing with Brian Bohman and GayLynn Bohman for a little over a year during the time of the murder.
Livingston viciously attacked Bohman by stabbing him 57 times Oct. 22, 2021.
The press release indicated that the Bohmans regularly provided a "safe haven" for foster children and high-risk, homeless youths in the Palmer-Fishhook Road area over the years, and Livingston received help from the Bohmans at a point in time as a homeless youth.
Livingston pled guilty to Murder in the First Degree July 26, 2023 and he was sentenced Nov. 13, 2023 with Alaska Superior Court Judge Kristen Stohler presiding.
Livingston received a 95-year sentence with 20 years suspended and 75 years to serve.
According to the press release, Judge Stohler noted that Livingston's guilty plea does not equate to taking responsibility for his actions, and she indicated that he appeared "bored" "disinterested," "flippant," and nonchalant" during the victim impact statements that went on for an hour and a half.
