Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Shannon Marie Bouchard, 46, died July 23, 2012, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer.
Judith Lethin will officiate at services at 2:30 p.m., Sept. 1 in Seldovia. Shannon’s ashes will be scattered in her mother’s garden in Seldovia.
Shannon was born Jan. 2, 1966, in Anchorage to Roy Wallace Haller of Washington and Marie Ann Burt of Seldovia. She was born in Anchorage and raised in Seldovia. After several years of living out of state, Shannon later moved to Wasilla. Shannon spent four years in the U.S. Air Force and attained her certified nursing assistant credential. She enjoyed reading, gardening and collecting things. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children.
“Shannon had a soul whose warmth and loving light touched everyone around her,” her family wrote. “She will forever be missed for this world is now a little less bright.”
Surviving are husband, Paul Bouchard of Wasilla; daughter, Nichole Bouchard of Seldovia; son, Michael Bouchard of Wasilla; mother, Marie Ann Burt of Seldovia; father, Roy Wallace Haller of Washington; brothers, Scott Michael Haller and Shad Matthew Haller of Seldovia, and Fredrick Stanley Elvsaas Jr. of Wasilla; sisters, Stephanie Michele Haller of Palmer and Paula Marie Elvsaas of Seldovia; step-father, Fredrick Stanley Elvsaas Sr. of Anchorage; 13 nieces and nephews; uncle and aunt, Todd and Kris Burt of Nebraska; uncles, Thor Burt of Seldovia, Mike Burt of Florida and Rocky Burt of California; aunt, Sharon Burt of Fairbanks; and numerous cousins in Alaska, Nebraska and Washington.
Preceding her in death was her grandmother, Marie Burt; and uncle, Timothy John Burt.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests live plants for the garden where her ashes will rest.
