A memorial service followed by a potluck for Sharon Lucas will be held at the Moose Lodge in Palmer on Friday, Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Mat-Su Hospice or The Wounded Warriors Project.
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Palmer surrounded by her loving family.
Sharon moved with her family to Alaska in 1954 from Scobey, Montana. She was the fair queen at the age of 17. She married her first husband Gordon “Buddy” Fritz and they had three children together: Deanna, Howard and Becky.
She worked in the family-owned restaurant business for many years prior to working for the Dept. of Transportation until she retired. In 1981, Sharon married her current husband of 36 years, Larry Lucas, bringing with him a son and daughter, Lance and Teanna.
She loved to do cross-stitch, read and play slots. She was always adventurous and rode dirt bikes for many years. She loved to dance and sing, and she had a beautiful voice. Sharon was also an excellent chef who loved to cook.
She was loved by everyone whose lives she touched. She had many friends and people who loved her. Sharon was full of life and had an infectious laugh that made everyone around her laugh too.
In 1987, Larry and Sharon retired and began traveling. They spent most of their winters in the Lower 48 and Hawaii. They traveled until Sharon’s illness prevented them from it.
In March, 2015 they returned home to Alaska to be with family.
