Shawn Allison Caswell, 51, died at her home surrounded by her family on Jan. 16, 2012, in Wasilla.
She was born Aug. 8, 1960, in Renton, Wash., to Jack and Linda Ann (Turner) Hays.
She owned and operated her own dog grooming and boarding place in Wasilla, where she loved and cared for them. She also had her own cleaning company and helped people with those needs.
Shawn's family said she believed you should treat people and animals the way you wanted to be treated. Her love for her friends and the animals she cared for made a difference for those who knew and loved her. Her love was shown in the community by her work with the Salvation Army.
She will be missed and loved by her family and friends she made along her life's journey.
Surviving are her husband, Larry of Wasilla; daughters, Corina Mettlin of Las Vegas, Nev., and Colby King of Wasilla; grandchildren Akasha and Kai of Wasilla and Reese, Brody and Madison of Nevada.
A celebration of life gathering is planned for this summer for her family and friends.
Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory Wasilla cared for the family.
