Wasilla resident Shelby Rene Caven, 23, died on July 5, 2014, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, from injuries sustained in an ATV accident.
A celebration of life is at 3 p.m., July 12, at the Zero Lake Road parking area.
Shelby was born on Feb. 28, 1991, in Palmer. She also lived in California and Wisconsin. She graduated Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamunga, California, in 2009 and attended Heavy Equipment School in Wasilla. She was employed as an inventory supervisor for Three Bears and was a member of 302 Union as a heavy equipment operator.
Shelby was affiliated with Faith Bible Fellowship in Big Lake, and her hobbies were off-road racing, camping, 4x4 buggies, four-wheeling, heavy equipment and outdoor stuff.
Her family writes: “She was always concerned with the welfare of others, God’s little helper angel. Philippians 2:3 Don’t do anything for selfish purposes, but with humility think of others better than yourself.”
Shelby loved off-road racing, helping others and helping to raise her niece, Lilly, who she loved as her own. She was the true definition of “daddy’s girl.” Her favorite Christian song was “I Pledge Allegiance to the Lamb,” by Ray Bolts.
Her hero in life was her grandmother (mum) Esther.
Shelby is preceded in death by her mother, Angela Rosaro Caven.
Shelby leaves behind her father, Ricky Caven; two brothers, Thomas and Daniel Caven; niece, Lilly; grandmother, Esther Reighard; and grandfather Charles Caven.
Arrangements were made with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
