Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Sheyenne (Shey-Shey) Johnson, 19, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away Jan. 20, 2015, in Palmer.
Sheyenne moved to Alaska when she was 9 and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2013 at Palmer High School.
During high school some of Sheyenne’s activities included taking International Baccalaureate classes, serving as a teacher’s assistant and a member of the Palmer High School Symphonic Choir, and volunteering with her father and stepmother at various events supporting local military. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend and touched the lives of all she knew. Renowned for her bright smile, pure heart, humor, and unending love for family and friends, Sheyenne left a lasting impression on the hearts of all who knew her.
Sheyenne is survived by her parents; father, Harry Steve Johnson, stepmother, Neskya “Sky” Johnson, and mother, Kathleen A. Johnson; siblings, Sierra, Jared, Jedediah, Jacob, Joseph, Jordan and Sahara Johnson.
Memorial services were held at St. Michael’s Parish in Palmer.
Arrangements to spread Sheyenne’s ashes on private property, which the family will dedicate as a memorial, have yet to be announced.
