Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Shirley Lavonne Goff, 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Oct. 28, 2013, at Mat-Su Regional Hospital in Palmer.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Allen Goff.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Hussey, who resides in Springtown, Texas; her son, Robert Goff, who resides in Gardner, Mont.; her daughter, Lisa O’Leary, residing in Seldovia; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Shirley lived and loved in Alaska for many years. Her involvement in the community was only surpassed by her great love for her family. She was known for her direct assessment of any situation and her ability to communicate her opinion without compromise or question.
A celebration service is at 11 a.m., Nov. 30 at Palmer Christian Church on Scott Road in Palmer. There will be a luncheon following, so bring your memories and smiles to share with Shirley’s church family. Shirley specified no flowers, please.
