Shirley Lou Currey, 79, of Palmer, passed away at Mat-Su Regional Hospital on December 30, 2014 due to natural causes.
She was born on October 11, 1935, in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. She came to Alaska from Texas in 1991, living in Anchorage and working as the General Manager of the Inlet Towers. She retired in 1998 and moved to Palmer in 2000.
Shirley enjoyed quilting, gardening, traveling, and caring for her pets. Her family describes her as a woman who never learned not to talk to strangers because everyone in the world was a friend.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sherie Bertelson (James); son, Terry Howard (Catherine); son, Douglas Howard; daughter, Kathy Howard; step-son, Tracy Currey; grandchildren Mychelle Rayburn, Duane Howard, and Aliea Darwin; and brother, George Fox.
Shirley’s cremated remains will be laid to rest in her hometown of Milton-Freewater, Oregon.
